The Middle Resolution Gets National Attention

The Middle Resolution is excited to report an extremely inspiring and successful "Behind the Scenes" event this past Wednesday featuring Fox News contributor, National Strategist and Former Deputy Assistant to President Trump, Dr. Sebastian Gorka.

Over two hundred conservatives packed the Delta Hotels by Marriott Richmond Downtown. A grateful THANK YOU to all who joined us, our generous sponsors, as well as Apostle Leon Benjamin, Sr. and the Honorable Heather Cordasco who also addressed the audience. Photos from the event are included below.

Middle Resolution fights liberals

“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Rule #13 in Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky.

While Alinsky died decades ago and his disciples—Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton—are gone from the political scene, his poisonous philosophy is alive and well today on the political left.  Last week, The Middle Resolution became the subject of Alinsky-ite attacks when we were harassed about our special guest, Dr. Sebastian Gorka, scheduled to be our featured speaker at an April 18th event.

Opponents of Dr. Gorka, a native of Hungary, have made false claims about his father’s membership in an anti-Soviet organization in the 1960’s and 1970’s.  Dr. Gorka served as deputy assistant to President Trump, which in the liberal mind is considered a “crime.” Now, whenever Dr. Gorka speaks at events like ours, the left trots out these false claims in an attempt to intimidate, hoping to shut Dr. Gorka and his audience down.

We Stand Corrected!

Yesterday you received an email calling out the Republicans in the House of Delegates for passing a budget with the largest expansion of government in Virginia’s history.

Unintentionally, our email implied that all House Republicans voted for this expansion. Actually, there were 32 courageous Republicans who stood up to the insanity of putting Virginia’s citizens on the hook for hundreds of millions of dollars in new taxes.

We have listed those courageous Delegates below and have also listed the Delegates who voted with 100% of the progressive Democrats.

Taxpayers win, but is it over?

Taxpayers won the battle, but the war isn’t over.

Conservative values and the fight against the largest government expansion in Virginia history emerged victorious last weekend when negotiators refused to finalize a disastrous budget that would have left Virginians on the hook for billions.

With legislators unable to reach a budget deal by the March 10 deadline, Gov. Northam—who called for a special session in April—will now push the General Assembly to accept his demands for Medicaid expansion.

That’s why WE can’t stop telling our delegates and senators that we won’t accept massive government expansion through Obamacare’s Medicaid program!

Will GOP support massive increase in government

Middle Resolution is committed to stopping the massive increase in government spending through the expansion of Obamacare’s Medicaid program.  Legislators are in the final days of budget negotiations and, for time being, they have not agreed to a reckless expansion of Medicaid. Negotiations will continue and while we haven’t won yet, we have at least turned the momentum away from what seemed to be an inevitable disappointment.

Middle Resolution has worked with legislators and the Trump administration to let negotiators know that Medicaid expansion would be a fiscal disaster for Virginia.  It would be the largest expansion of Virginia government in history, and we have no way to stop it when it gets out of control!

Help Us Fight Medicaid Expansion Now!

MATCHING ENDS IN 72 HOURS! HELP THE MIDDLE RESOLUTION DOUBLE OUR IMPACT TO FIGHT OBAMACARE MEDICAID EXPANSION IN VA!

Help us match the $25,000 donation from one of our generous donors over the next 72 hours so we can continue to fight Medicaid expansion in Virginia! Our goal is to raise $25,000 by midnight on Tuesday, March 6th! WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW MORE THAN EVER!

Over the past few weeks, The Middle Resolution has worked directly with the Trump Administration to provide Virginia’s House and Senate leadership with new information about the long-term implications of expanding Medicaid in the commonwealth!

Just this past Thursday, at our request, the White House WARNED Virginia lawmakers that reducing funding for Obamacare expansion is a priority for President Trump and his administration.

MickMulvaney.png

In his statement, Mick Mulvaney, Director of the Office of Management and Budget calls out Virginia lawmakers writing, “The President’s budget repeals Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion and supports increased flexibility for states to design solutions that best meet the needs of their low income populations.”

Our persistent effort to educate lawmakers on the recklessness of passing the single largest expansion of government in Virginia’s history has forced lawmakers to rethink their position on Obamacare Medicaid expansion.

However, the big government politicians in the Virginia General Assembly aren’t giving up. Within the next 72 hours, General Assembly Budget Conferees will be deciding whether to put Medicaid expansion into the budget they submit to the Governor.

We need your help to continue our efforts to educate these lawmakers—not only on the devastating fiscal impact this policy will have on Virginia, but also the impact it will have on the most vulnerable citizens in Virginia.

PLEASE CONSIDER BEING A PART OF THE SOLUTION BY DONATING NOW. FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO VISIT THE MIDDLE RESOLUTION AND DONATE TODAY!

We have only 72 Hours! Please help!

Will VA Reps. heed Trump on massive gov't expansion?

“When my information changes, I alter my conclusions. What do you do, sir?” The quote attributed to famed British economist John Maynard Keynes about changing positions on an issue could very well apply to Virginia legislators who last week voted for a massive increase in government spending through an expanded Obamacare Medicaid program.

The Trump Administration has been adamant about stopping the irresponsible expansion and exploding costs of Obamacare.  While complete repeal of the law—known for its oxymoron name “the Affordable Care Act”—was thwarted by one vote in the U.S. Senate last year, the president has made clear the federal gravy train that lures states into Medicaid expansion is coming to an end.

Today in fact, Pres. Trump’s Budget chief Mick Mulvaney said specifically “the President’s budget repeals Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion.”  You can’t get more blunt than that!

That means states who have already expanded Medicaid or those that might—like Virginia—will be on the hook for billions of dollars in unreimbursed costs, forcing tax increases and cuts to vital programs like schools, police and transportation.

In the last few days, Middle Resolution has worked with the Trump Administration to help provide House and Senate leadership with new information about the long-term implications for expanding Medicaid in the commonwealth.  This new information strongly suggests it would be financially catastrophic for the state to enact Medicaid expansion.  It’s not rhetoric.  These are facts coming directly from the administration that will determine the future of the program.

Now that legislators have new information, we hope they will alter their conclusions and kill Obamacare Medicaid expansion and prevent a long-term financial disaster for Virginia. Tell your legislators to listen to Pres. Trump and kill Medicaid expansion!

Will Virginia GOP support massive government expansion?

The legislative process is often compared to making sausage, meaning it’s messy and ugly and it’s probably better if you just didn’t watch.  That's why we are in Richmond every day during the General Assembly Session.  It is our duty to be your eyes and ears to hold legislators accountable if they start inserting bad ingredients in the sausage.

Unfortunately, bad sausage making is exactly what happened this week in Richmond. We have a clear choice between what’s good for the Commonwealth and what’s bad.  Lawmakers in both the House of Delegates and Senate will vote on their respective budgets on Thursday and the difference between the two—both supported by Republicans—couldn’t be more stark.

In the Senate, a budget passed out of the Finance Committee that was called one of the most conservative in state history.  While that may be stretching it a bit, it modestly increases Medicaid spending for the truly needy such as people with mental illness and addiction, and sets aside money for the state’s rainy day fund.  However, it doesn’t include the poison pill of Obamacare Medicaid expansion.
