“A politician thinks of the next election. A statesman, of the next generation." James Freeman Clark
Yesterday we sent an email calling out Republicans who made the political calculation that it was best to give the democrats what they wanted – an explosion of the welfare state in Virginia - rather than uphold the important principles of personal responsibility, equal justice, budgetary restraint and limited government.
However, there were more than twice as many Republicans who had the courage to stand up to the unending pressure from the private hospital lobbying groups, the Democrat’s threat of shutting down rural hospitals, and the progressive onslaught of fake news.
We are proud of these statesmen and stateswomen for standing tall. They had a clear understanding that expanding Medicaid to able-bodied adults without dependents would crowd out services for the severely disabled. They also understood the short term gain of billions of federal dollars flowing into the Virginia budget would be setting up Virginia for a budget disaster never seen before. This is the great moral crisis overlooked by so many!
We would like to thank each and every one of these Republicans for having the foresight to protect Virginia from rapidly becoming a progressive, big government state like California, New Jersey, Maryland and New York.
Below is a list of Senate and House republicans who voted correctly on the budget bill. Please reach out to these lawmakers and thank them for trying to protect Virginia from the progressive onslaught that experienced in our General Assembly.
We thank you for your continued support and look forward to transforming the so called “Blue Wave”, that has so devastated Virginia’s fiscal sanity, into the still and quiet waters of a Virginia stream!
